About iCycle
For the last 20 years, James & Natalie Parkin have organised fully supported Cycling Tours. Tours are presented on different, well researched routes, generally well off the beaten track. These tours are aimed at small groups with the intention of fostering great camaraderie and ensuring that everybody receives a warm welcome and great hospitality!
Over the last twenty years road bike tours have included,
- Johannesburg to Durban to compete in the Amashova Road Race from Pietermaritzburg to Durban
- Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth
- Johannesburg to East London
- Raid Pyrenees (France)
- Raid Dolomites (Italy)
In 2026 we are delighted to welcome Reinhard Hartmann as our partner. Reinhard and James first met at school decades ago. Reinhard adds immense value to each tour and his very sociable happy personality is very welcoming.
iCycle will continue to present a few tours per year, aimed at those looking to ride new and different routes while enjoying a holiday with a cycling theme.

Gravel Bike tours have included,
- Johannesburg to Swakopmund in Namibia
- Ruacana to Henties Bay across northern Namibia
- Blantyre to Lake Malawi and back to Blantyre in Malawi
- Ceres to George across the South African Tankwa Karoo
- George to Swellendam to compete in the Double Century Team Race
- Port Elizbeth to George (via the Baviaans) to compete in the Karoo to Coast Race
- Battlefields Tour route from Gauteng to the KZN Zulu & Boer War Battlefields.
James with his good friend Bill Jooste (The Oldest Participant to have done a Desert Dash in Namibia).
About James Parkin
James retired from corporate life in April 2022 after spending 25 years at Tiger Brands and completing his final few years of working life in Malawi. James has a passion for Malawi and its very friendly people and loves taking Tour groups to see the real Malawi, far off the beaten track!
James has been presenting cycling tours for over 20 years. He is proud to say that his closest friends were made on Tours, and some who were on the first tour over 20 years ago, have completed many tours – the most loyal and wonderful friends!
About Reinhard Hartmann
Reinhard has recently retired from the family business – Hartmann & Kepler, and he looks forward to pursuing his great love of gravel cycling on the best routes across Southern Africa.
Reinhard is an immensely popular people’s person, well known in cycling circles. His friendship and high motivation levels are inspirational. Reinhard’s other interests include photography, fishing, and South African history.
